Macule

Small (<1cm in diameter);
well defined border;flan and nopalpable on skin surface, no color change

Papule

Small (<0.5 cm diameter);
palpable, elevated solid tissue
eg; mole, wart

Wheal

Slightley irregular in shape; transient superficial elevated area of localized edema
eg; hive, insect bite

Vesicle

Small (<0.5 cm diameter) well-defined border; elevated cavity filled with pus
eg; blister, chickenpox, herpes simplex

Pustule

well defined borderd; elevated superificial cavity fill with pus
eg; acne lesion, impetigo

Fissure

linear crack in skin
eg; cracked lips, fungal infection such as athlete's foot

Ulcer

Loss of top layers of skin tissue
eg; pressure ulcer (decubits ulcer)

Nodule

Small (<2 cm diameter); well-defined border, palpable elevated mass
eg; fatty tumor, cyst, localized scar tissue

Tumor

Over 1-2 cm in diameter; irregular border, palpable elevated mass
eg; larger lipoma or mailgnancy
