A group of words with a subject and predicate; a sentence.

Independent Clause-a clause that can stand alone
Dependent-cannot stand alone

Simple Sentence

Consists of one independent clause

Compound Sentence

Consists of 2 independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction
